For SR 179 Dispersed Campsite: I would have given 5 stars except for an experience on the second night that spooked us and resulted in us quickly packing up and leaving. We arrived early on a Friday afternoon to an empty campsite. Fantastic views and fairly level. Next morning got up very early to hike to the Crack. Took 4.5 hours. Great start to the day. The Wet Beaver park is very popular so lots of road traffic. Heard gunshots in late afternoon, which alone is fine, but then a series of events occurred and we no longer felt safe at this location so we quickly packed up and left. We would not stay there again.

For SR 179 Dispersed Campsite: For a much more epic experience, continue down FS618 another half-mile. Where the sign says to turn left into the day use area, instead turn right on Soda Springs Road. There is an open gate here (closed if the road is too muddy to be passable). Continue another half-mile and turn right. There are at least 10 usable, well-spaced sites. Several are near the top of a dramatic bluff of red, Sedona-like rock. Soda Springs Road is rough and rutted in a few spots but we had no trouble with our 20 ft travel trailer. We saw Class A, 5th Wheels, camper vans, and schoolies navigate the road with no problem. The views are spectacular. Hard to believe it芒鈧劉s free.

For SR 179 Dispersed Campsite: Tight for a 33' foot trailer and dually, but nice site just a couple of miles off the main highway. Fair amount of traffic on the road into the evening and lots of cattle. Would definitely recommend glamping here with either smaller trailer if you're good at backing it into tight spots or smaller class C. Anything larger maybe tough though maneuvering through the brush.
