For Topaz Lake Recreation Area: Headed back from Owens valley decided to stay here for the night. Arrived some time before 4pm on a Friday and found only self service kiosk and online reservations. Primitive sites only available on kiosk so we tried the primitive camping with our travel trailer. It got very windy for a while and then calmed down at night. The mosquitos are so thick I鈥檝e only seen it worse after rain in the Sierra back country. As we dozed off to sleep at 10 that鈥檚 when the party started. Reggaeton played into the night with shouting, kids crying, and some terrible version of karaoke or drunk singing. Trying to figure out if the primitive side is somehow not related with the rest of the park, seems like a free for all. Almost certain we will never be back. We did have a quiet nite dispersed camping just south of Ruhenstroth, I鈥檇 try that again before the primitive area of topaz.

For Topaz Lake Recreation Area: As Coach Bob said, bugs thick at dusk. But that芒鈧劉s only thing I芒鈧劉d change! Campsite 21. - big, fire ring, nice picnic table, water and electric. Walk down to lake - lots of fun for kids, family. Very well patrolled, no trash noted, everyone following rules makes it very kid safe.

Coach Bob
For Topaz Lake Recreation Area: Beautiful state park. Was just driving bye and ended up staying two days. Has unplugged sites on water and full hook ups a few yards away. Bathhouse is under repair so you芒鈧劉ll have to use a port a john芒鈧劉s for now. VERY windy from 2-7pm. After that the bugs come out. $25 unplugged. $35 plugged.
