For Fox Squirrel - Walnut Point State Park: Walnut Point State Park is a lovely and relaxing site! There are actually 2 RV ready camp sites - Grey Squirrel and Fox Squirrel, then there is Fox tent and Grey tent. Tents are allowed within the RV area as well. There is electricity for all sites, but water is not at each site. There is one dump station near the entrance to the campground. Water fill is available there and at various spots in the campground. In Grey Squirrel, odd number spots 15-25 back up to the lake and have access to several floating docks and a couple of boat launches. All of Fox Squirrel sites are land locked.
Some sites have decks; all have grills/fire pits and picnic tables. All the sites are gravel accept the accessibility sites for handicap access. There are a couple of outhouses/bathrooms and a communal shower house. Several playgrounds (which are currently closed due to COVID-19 restrictions) are spread around the park. Bicycles are allowed on the roads, but not the hiking trails.
There is a concession building where you can rent kayaks ( and someday row boats). This is the only place you can get firewood that is acceptable to use in the park. You can also get information there and purchase bait and other items. It has recently changed hands, and is now run by the same people who run Moraine View Park concessions.
This is a great family park. People here are friendly and eager to chat. So if you don芒鈧劉t like kids and want to avoid people, this probably isn芒鈧劉t the place for you! We will definitely be back.
